Our beloved city Genoa has once again proven its culinary excellence, earning international recognition as one of the world's top food destinations. The prestigious TasteAtlas guide, a global authority on traditional flavors and gastronomic culture, has ranked Genoa in thirteenth place among the world's best food cities for 2024 – a remarkable climb from our twenty-second position last year.

As a Genoese food enthusiast, I'm particularly proud to see our city's rich culinary heritage acknowledged by TasteAtlas, the world's leading online atlas of traditional cuisine. Their comprehensive platform, which features expert reviews, traditional recipes, and in-depth research on regional specialties, evaluates cities based on their traditional culinary offerings rather than contemporary dining scenes.
In this year's rankings, which evaluated 17,073 cities worldwide, we find ourselves in exceptional company. Naples leads the list, followed by other Italian gastronomic powerhouses like Milan, Bologna, Florence, and Rome. International culinary capitals including Mumbai, Paris, Vienna, and Osaka complete the top ten, with Madrid and New York preceding our position. It is surprising that places like Lucca, Siena, Trieste and Parma are at the bottom of the top 100 list.
This recognition particularly celebrates our city's iconic dishes – from our world-famous trofie and trenette with pesto to the crispy, golden farinata, the elaborate cappon magro, and our beloved ravioli. These specialties, deeply rooted in Genoese tradition, continue to captivate food lovers from around the globe.
