From the ground floor up every floor added a new dimension to the product in making until it rolled of onto La Pista da Lingotto.
Everything from the production line was tested on the rooftop racetrack, from the early Cinquecento to the 160 mph Turbina concept car.
Only for the privileged
30 years ago Fiat closed the factory and the once famous building was transformed into a shopping centre, exposition halls and hotels. The rooftop track is not open to the public except on special occasion and for guests of FIAT. To drive a car on the track is only available to the very privileged.
The track could also be seen from restaurant ´La Pista´, which has a unique view over Turin and the testtrack of the FIAT factory. However it closed recently and at the moment there are no plans for a re-opening in the foreseeable future as far as we know.
