Why is Le Marche so special?

Le Marche is known for its countless factory outlets and pristine white beaches of the Adriatic coast. One of the most beautiful medieval cities in Italy is Urbino, rightly placed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region is also gaining more recognition for its exquisite wines and as a truffle market. But don't forget the numerous authentic villages with ancient stone walls and cobblestone streets.

Nature: parks, mountains, beaches, and lakes

The National Park of Monti Sibillini, with its highest peak, the Monte Vettore, remains mostly untouched by modern times. When you think of Le Marche, you think of beaches, boasting a long Adriatic coast with beautiful sandy shores. The beach of the two sisters, "spiaggia delle due sorelle" in Sirolo, is characterized by two magnificent white rocks emerging from the sea. In the summer, the lake of Fiasta is a great place for cooling off or perhaps canoeing.

Beautiful renaissance cities

Ascoli Piceno, Urbino, Montefeltro are medieval gems. Ascoli Piceno, known as the travertine city because of the local stone used to build many streets and squares. Urbino, the university city, and Montefeltro where history was written.

Abbeys, castles, forts, and monuments

Le Marche is littered with ancient stones. Consider the abbey of Fiastra, one of the best-preserved Trappist monasteries in Italy, or the Castello di Gradara, where Dante set his romantic tale of Paolo and Francesca. Then there's the monumental Sferisterio open-air theater in Macerata which showcases more operas than Verona with phenomenal acoustics. And of course, the Basilica of Saint Nicholas in Tolentino shouldn't be overlooked, the saint renowned for his daily miracles.

Le Marche (or the Marches) was one of the latest regions that expats flog to when they dream of buying a house or retiring in Italy. The region borders busy Tuscany and Umbria, but has not yet reached the same levels of crowding and pricing as its nearby counterparts. Of the southern regions, this is the northernmost, making it easier to reach by car than the equally beautiful Abruzzo, Molise, and Puglia. If you're looking for unspoiled nature, good food, and affordability, Le Marche is the place to be.

Le Marche offers many opportunities to explore and experience, from discovering history to enjoying culinary delights. Do not wait any longer and plan your journey to this beautiful Italian region today!
