Lazio

Calcata in Lazio

Looking for travel tips for a trip to Lazio? This is a holiday region that has only just been discovered by (international) travellers. Of course it remains the region with Rome as its capital, but Lazio and its provinces of Latina, Frosinone, Rieti and Viterbo offer much more. For example, the villages of Calcata, Tivoli and Villa d'Este, the beautiful seaside towns of Anzio, Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, Genzano, Sperlonga, Gaeta, the lakes of Bracciano, Bolzeno, the Castelli Romana valley, Frascati and Castel Gandolfo, the list goes on.

What makes Lazio so special to visit?

The region of Lazio (Latium), with its capital Rome, is often overlooked by tourists due to the attraction of the capital. In the 18th century, however, the region was part of the Grand Tour, which brought many travellers to the small and attractive villages.

The hinterland of Rome is a quiet and sparsely populated area. However, there is much to see, beautiful lakes such as Bolsena and Vico, historic town centres such as Frascati and Tivoli, the beautiful gardens of Villa Lante, stately palaces, Etruscan remains at Tarquinia and it produces some good wines.
