Rome: the eternal city's hotel scene is set for a boost with a new branch of Nobu Hotels and Six Senses hotels, plus the boutique hotel ROMEO Roma, in a 16th-century palace by Zaha Hadid. But at the top of our must-visit list is the Bulgari Rome. This Italian brand owns hotels as far away as Shanghai and Bali, but is finally opening its flagship in its hometown coming this spring or summer. Housed in a 1930s modernist building composed mostly of travertine marble and red brick, it will surely be the epitome of the more-is-more Bulgari style with warm jewel tones, fantastic artwork and unashamedly luxurious suites. But let's start with a new small family-run hotel in Lido di Jeselo.

Salus Family Hotel in Lido di Jeselo

The Salus Hotel in Jesolo (near Venice) is a family hotel located near the sea with forty-five rooms. For the restyling project of the Salus Hotel, ovre.design® focused mainly on the rooms and bathrooms, the corridors, the exterior of the building and currently they are working on the common areas. "The owners' objective" according to architect Giulia Delpiano, "was to create a 'boutique' environment with a clear and linear style that could play with selected color tones." Modica Boutique Hotel in Sicily

The Modica Boutique Hotel is located in the hinterland of one of the most beautiful and evocative coasts of Sicily. Unlike other hotels that focus on the more classic forms in the area, the Modica Boutique Hotel has a minimalist and elegant design that evokes the concept of a living room but at the same time opens its doors to a business audience. Each project realized by the CaberlonCaroppi studio is inspired by the Genius Loci, such as in the Boutique Hotel where we find a more urban atmosphere. However, the colors still refer to the Mediterranean Sea, the intense blue of the reception or the wood chosen for the floors are the best example.

Villa Igiea, a Rocco Forte Hotel Palermo

The Villa Igiea Hotel in Palermo tells the story of a meeting between two realities that have a long history and go forward with all the traditions and strength of a contemporary brand with a vision for the future. Located on the Gulf of Palermo, 2 km from the port and in a panoramic position, Villa Igiea Hotel is part of the Rocco Forte hotel chain. The initial designs were ready in 2019 and the renovation work was completed in July 2021. The renovations were designed by the agency APIR Project.

La Fenice 'Villa Bianchi' in Cervinia

The original name was Villa Bacchini, and it was one of the few villas in the Cervinia area built since the 1930s, however it was destroyed in 1980 by the convergence of two avalanches. After this tragic event, the Valle d'Aosta region took several measures to protect the area and rebuild the villa. The original owners, the Bacchini family, decided not to pursue the rebuilding and sold what was left to the Harrison family from London, who wanted to restore the villa to its former glory. The exterior of the villa is a protected monument and the rebuilding project - by the architectural firm Mariapia Bettiol of Aosta in collaboration with the interior designer from Valtellina, CONCRETA - had to take this into account. The engineer Bacchini - designer of the famous Allocchio-Bacchini radio, which enjoyed great success in the golden radio days - built the villa in 1936 by transporting the materials on mules, since at the time only a mule track connected the building to the outside world.

The four double rooms on La Fenice's middle floor each have a private bathroom and shower, as well as a small walk-in closet. Each room has its own color palette that plays with shades of leather and velvet, while the curtains are wool and evoke alpine tradition in color and design. The result is a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests can relax after a long day on the slopes. Grand Hotel Cervino in Cervinia

Interior designer Andrea Auletta's recent realization is the AG Hotels Group's 'IL Tornabuoni' hotel in Florence, a 5-star hotel designed to accommodate a high-level international audience. The Andrea Auletta Interiors studio designed the hotel in all its details "Each floor", says Auletta, "required a different layout and in this context I dealt with every element, from the design of every single piece of furniture and accessory to the specific design of carpets, wallpaper, paintings and decorative objects." The hotel has 62 roomsand three different restaurants.

ROMEO Hotel Rome

The new Rome Hotel is housed in a late 16th-century building belonging to the noble Serroberti-Capponi family. Designed by the studio Zaha Hadid, it will have 74 rooms and suites. A stone's throw from the Campo Marzio district in the city center, Romeo Roma will have both a gourmet and traditional restaurant, as well as a courtyard with an indoor and outdoor pool, lounge and rooftop bar, Romeo the SPA will be provided by Sisley Paris.

Nobu Hotel Rome

Bulgari Hotel Rome

The Bulgari hotel group is finally returning to Rome. Bulgari Rome is housed in a 1930s modernist building essentially made with travertine marble and red brick, opening is expected in the fall of 2023. It is around the corner from the Spanish Steps and features a restaurant headed by Niko Romito, known for his three-star Reale restaurant in a 16th-century monastery in Abruzzo.

The Italian jewelry brand opened its first hotel nearly 20 years ago and followed with gleaming establishments in London, Dubai, Bali and, most recently, Paris. 2023 brings with it the opening of Bulgari Roma around the corner from the Spanish Steps. By appointment visit a library dedicated to the history of jewelry, a spa and bar on the top floor with stunning views.

Six Senses Rome

This is the very first Six Senses location to open in Italy. All the hallmarks of an opulent Roman hotel are present: a palazzo minutes away from Fontana di Trevi and Pantheon, with a courtyard garden and rooftop terrace. The building's façade is UNESCO-listed and carefully restored by the Six Senses group, which has also preserved breathtaking original features such as the central staircase. Maalot Hotel in Rome

Renovations Hotel Splendido in Portofino - Spectacular new swimming pool

Following the Splendido Mare in Portofino in 2021, the Belmond Group now has plans to carry out renovations to the Splendido, which is also located in Portofino. "Our approach to the renovation project is similar to that of a portrait painter," said Martin Martin.
The Splendido, an icon of the Ligurian seaside resort since the 1950s, will receive a gradual multi-phase makeover by the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, with the first part to be completed as early as June next year.
